St. Louis High Performance FAQ

Q: Who is St. Louis High Performance Volleyball Club?

A: St. Louis High Performance VBC is dedicated to the promotion of elite boy's and girl's volleyball in the surrounding St. Louis metro area. Every year we have teams finish in the top 10 in the country at the USA National Tournament. Our coaching staff boasts a list of former/current collegiate players and coaches. Our coaches have coached players on the USA Olympic Team, the USA Junior National Team, NCAA All-American Team, Youth National Team, Junior Olympic All-American Teams, and State Championship Teams. Yearly we have several players invited to participate on the USA National Teams and in the USA National Camps. This year 7 of our 9 graduating seniors had athletic scholarship offers to play volleyball in college.

Q: Why did HiP and TSL combine?

A: HiP and TSL both sought to expand program offerings and saw in each other an opportunity to do so while not losing sight of their respective missions. The synergies in both club's mission is undeniable, namely to provide exceptional coaching to develop players to compete at their highest level. The goal's of both clubs to expand and to grow and develop the sport locally was further proof that unity of vision existed and should be pursued in combination. This alignment in philosophy and strategic goals for program expansion meant that these two separate entities could maintain their mission and reach their goals more efficiently. It is a win win!

Q: What changes will HiP families see as a result of this combination?

A: Their will be no structural or leadership changes that will affect the boy's families. The girl's program is separate from the boy's and vice versa. What will be seen are girl's teams practicing next to the boy's teams playing in tournaments next to the boys teams. Brothers and sisters will be playing for one club. The club will be able to leverage its size to negotiate better contracts with vendors. Most importantly the stable of HiP coaches just got better! Girl's and Boy's coaches will be able to exchange ideas and further their knowledge through the availability of each other. This will only help the development and training of the players in the club!

Q: What changes will TSL families see as a result of this combination?

A: St. Louis High Performance and TSL are both known for their leadership and their excellence in training. Chris Nichols will continue his role and serve as the Girl's Program Director for HiP. Chris will continue to oversee the training, communication and development of the girl's teams but will now just be receiving more help in the process. St. Louis High Performance has become known for its organizational structure and leadership. This structure and organization will transition to the girl's side under the leadership of Scott Mebruer, Executive Director of HiP and the Boy's Program Director. This additional layer of leadership, organization and oversight will only benefit the TSL families as they will now have complete centralized billing, communication, and program development. TSL families and staff will receive a better product in which they will be able to focus on their strengths. This gives the product added value and results in a better experience.

Q: Why did HiP restructure to become a 501 (3) (c) organization?

A: We restructured to formally organize the club to provide security to the long term existence and growth of the club. This means that we do not have to pay sales taxes on items (uniforms, equipment, hotels, etc). It also means that donors and sponsors interested in giving back to the organization can write off HiP contributions in their taxes just like other charities.

Q: How does the restructuring of the club affect me?

A: This means you should be able to count on HiP to be around for the long run. Providing you the best resources possible in the Midwest to challenge you to become the best player possible and help you get the most possible out of your volleyball experience.
